Counseling Services

Mile High Behavioral Health, LLC offers outpatient services to children, adolescents and adults throughout the Denver metro area including Adams County, Arapahoe County, Boulder County, Denver County, Douglas County and Jefferson County. For your convenience we provide either office based or in-home counseling services.

MHBH believes that the best way to create long-term sustainable change is to address concerns from multiple perspectives. We work with individuals, their families and when appropriate other important people or agencies in our clients' lives.

Family Therapy

  • Is your child's school performance or attendance less than it should be?
  • Does your teen's behavior keep you up at night?
  • Do you get frequent phone calls regarding your child's behavior at school?
  • Does your teenager talk back, ignore you and make parenting miserable?

Family problems can be overwhelming for any parent to face alone. Our therapists know that stress and anxiety can painfully affect you and your family.  Our therapists are experienced at helping parents hold their child accountable and improving their child's behavior. We use effective interventions designed to increase responsibility, improve communication and decrease problem behaviors. If needed, our therapists assist parents in creating a cooperative relationship with probation officers and caseworkers at the department of human services. When possible, it is our goal to help parents manage their child's behavior without assistance from anyone.

Couples Therapy

  • Do constant fights strain your relationship with your spouse or partner?
  • Have you found yourself missing the connection you and your spouse or partner used to have?
  • Is simple communication difficult to endure?

Fighting about the same thing over and over again can make the most committed person struggle with the most important relationship in their life. MHBH supports you in understanding and then developing the needed relationship skills to cope with relationship and/or marital conflict, domestic violence, infidelity, mediation and divorce. Some therapists try to maintain neutrality and support the idea that sometimes a therapist's job is to help people have a good divorce. By trying to be neutral, in fact, those same therapists can actually push couples towards divorce. MHBH employs pro-relationship couple's therapists. If both spouses are willing to commit to therapy and the situation is safe, we are committed to working with you to save your relationship. Can you expect any less from someone you pay to help you save the most important relationship in your life? We'll continue to work toward re-conciliation of your differences until you are successful or tell us enough is enough! If you decide to move on, at least you will do so knowing you've done your absolute best.

Individual Therapy

  • Is life making it hard to get out of the bed in the morning?
  • Does anxiety keep you at home all day, every day?
  • Are you coping with an overwhelming change or loss in your life?

Sometimes just getting out of bed in the morning or out of the house in the afternoon is a major victory when life deals you overwhelming cards and you don't have the support you need. We are profoundly committed to assist you in overcoming the barriers you face in leading a happy and successful life. Just talking with someone you can trust not to reveal your thoughts or take the other side of the argument can be uplifting. However, we do more than just listen. We'll help you look at the issue from different perspectives, find constructive solutions and develop the skills necessary to take action and implement those solutions. MHBH works with issues including relationship skills, conflict resolution, mental health concerns, abuse, trauma, adjustment issues, acculturation issues, grief and loss issues, school issues, weight loss and personal enrichment.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for Adolescents

  • Has your son or daughter attempted suicide?
  • Have they purposefully hurt themselves through cutting or burning?
  • Do they resort to negative coping skills such as substance use or binge eating?
  • Do they have difficulties in controlling their emotions either through excessive responses or the lack of a response?

Mile High Behavioral Health, LLC offers a version of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy called The Middle Path. This approach is family oriented and is geared towards working with adolescents. This approach consists of individual therapy, family therapy, phone coaching, and skills training. MHBH offers a 16-week program of skills classes including: Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotional Regulation and The Middle Path. Clients may start taking skills training groups on the first Wednesday of every month after being admitted to the DBT program.
